For new homes built from 1 Jan 2017, where the building approval was submitted on or after 1 Jan 2017 the new laws apply entirely.

For existing homes subject to a building approval submitted on or after 1 Jan 2017 the new laws will apply entirely.

In both cases, these requirements will be prescribed by the building certifier and should be completed by the builder under BR06 and signed off under a Form 16.
These homes can only be enrolled under our ‘2017’ services.

For existing homes that are not subject to a building approval on or after 1 Jan 2017, there is no requirement to upgrade to the new laws yet.

There is a ten year lead in period ending 1 Jan 2027.
Landlords have until the first point of sale or lease from 1 Jan 2022 to comply.

Costs are also expected to reduce in line with market forces as more compliant products enter the market, therefore we will be recommending existing homes look to upgrade to the new standards in 2020-2021.

Existing homes that do not upgrade to the new laws early can remain on our COST EFFECTIVE ‘Existing Laws’ service plans until 2022.

Total Compliance is only available at $99.00 per year for new homes built after 1 Jan 2017. Pre 2017 homes that upgrade to the new laws can be placed under Total Compliance 2017 at $149.00 per year. Up to 15 CIWC safety devices and 15 warning labels are included in the Total Compliance services. Additional products will be charged as per our product pricing schedule.
